Independent Department of Clinical Studies (IDCS)
Established in June 2026.
The Independent Department of Clinical Studies (IDCS) of the Hospital has been operating since June 2026.
The purpose of the Department, which reports directly to the Hospital Administration, is to ensure cooperation and coordination among the competent departments and services of the Hospital, in order to support the smooth conduct of biomedical research in accordance with European and national legislation. It is also responsible for the development, monitoring and supervision of the relevant administrative procedures, as well as for maintaining, in cooperation with the Medical Service, the archive of approved clinical studies and research protocols.
The establishment of the IDCS is provided for by the provisions of Article 83 of Law 5041/2023 (Government Gazette 87/A/2023), while its responsibilities are defined by Joint Ministerial Decision G2a/οικ.52875/08.10.2024 (Government Gazette 5651/B/2024).
The gradual development and organization of all actions provided for by the legislation is planned, with immediate priority given to the establishment of standardized operating procedures (Standard Operating Procedures – SOPs) for the submission of new clinical studies and the monitoring of the implementation progress of the contractual administrative requirements.
